Club History
Our Club started in an area just south of Wrigley Field known as the “Triangle” (formed by Clybourn, Willow and Halsted) and grew into a softball team that was sponsored by a long-gone Brewery. The team would gather in front of a Barber Shop (also long-gone) on Halsted and play catch while waiting for their members to assemble before going to the park. The Brewery had supplied them with some Kelly green shirts and one day the Barber said “look at them out there juggling that ball around, a regular bunch of Irish Clowns”, the name stuck and they adopted it for their team. They won the City Championship for their league in 1929 and the rumor is they started the Club to have a place for their trophy. Now it’s over 75 years later and we are still going.
